U-10 cricket tournament from Aug 2

CHANDIGARH: Saupin’s Cricket Academy will organise 1st Eugene Saupin Memorial Cricket Tournament for Under-10 from August 2 at the school grounds on league basis. As many as eight teams will take part in the tournament which will be divided into two pools. Semi-finals and final match will be day and night match affair. Powerlifting championship from Aug 18

CHANDIGARH:The IV Asian Bench Press Powerlifting Championship for sub-junior,junior,senior and masters will be jointly organised by the Indian Powerlifting Federation,Punjab Powerlifting Association and Chandigarh Powerlifting Association at Himachal Bhawan,Sector 28,from August 18 to 21. About 150 (men and women) powerlifters from different Asian countries would take part in this championship. A coaching camp for the Indian team will be organised at Himachal Bhawan from August 14 to 18.

U-13 cricket tourney from tomorrow

CHANDIGARH: Kundan Cricket Academy will organise First U-13 Monsoon Cricket Cup from August 1. The matches will be of 20 overs. Only those players are eligible to take part in the tournament who are born or after September 1,1996. The entry fees for each team will be Rs 3,000. Badminton tourney from August 7

PANCHKULA: The District Badminton Association,Panchkula,will conduct Ashwini Gupta Memorial District Badminton Championship at Tau Devi Lal Badminton Hall,Sector 3 in Panchkula from August 7 to 9. The matches will be conducted in the U-10 age groups for both boys and girls (singles),while U-13,U-16 and U-19 competitions will be conducted for men,women and veterans in both singles and doubles categories. Interested players may submit their entries to Ravinder Kapoor or Devender Rana at the venue before August 5,along with age proof and Rs 10 fee. The selection of teams in different categories will be made on the basis of performance of players in this tournament for taking part in the upcoming Haryana State Junior and Senior Badminton Championship.

Table tennis tournament from today

PANCHKULA: Panchkula District Table Tennis Championship will be held at Manav Mangal School,Sector 11,under the aegis of Panchkula District Table Tennis Association from July 31 to August 2. Panchkula table tennis team for participation in State Table Tennis Championship will be selected on the basis of this tournament. In the kid boys and girls’ singles category,players born on or after January 1,1999 are eligible to take part while in the cadet boys and girls’ category; players born on or after January 1,1998 can take part in the championship. Chess championship from tomorrow

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Chess Association will organise the Chandigarh Under-19 and Under-7 Boys and Girls Chess Championship on August 1 and 2 at St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School,Sector 44. A team of 2 in each category will be selected to represent Chandigarh at the Nationals to be held in Kerala in September and Ahmedabad in December,respectively. Multipurpose School records 3-wkt win

LUDHIANA: Multipurpose Government Senior Secondary School recorded a three-wicket win over KVM Senior Secondary School match during PAU Zone School Cricket Tournament held at Government Model School PAU in Ludiana on Thursday. Meanwhile,in the second match of the day,Greenland School defeated Tagore Public School by eight wickets.

In the first match,batting first after winning the toss,KVM School scored a total of 72 runs in 12 overs by losing seven wickets. Abhijit contributed highest 25 runs while Akhil scored 12 runs. Inder and Dikshit grabbed two wickets each for Multipurpose School. In reply,Multipurpose School achieved the target in 11.5 overs at the loss of seven wickets. Gurvinder scored highest 17 runs for the winning team. In second match,Tagore Public School could muster mere 41 runs after losing eight wickets in 12 overs. In reply Greenland School achieved the target by losing two wickets in 6 overs.
