The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) on Monday announced a public outreach programme with the objective of sorting out the problems faced by cantonment residents.
According to board cantonment executive officer S K Sardana, the programme will strive to reach out to all the residents of the cantonment zone — across the eight wards — and address their grievances.
Under the initiative, which is slated to begin on Wednesday, Sardana and the heads of the various departments, along with the elected member from the respective wards, will organise open darbars where the residents can put forth their issues. A majority of the complaints are related to sanitation and hygiene, he said.
“Of late, cantonment residents have been requesting an opportunity to directly interact with the board administration and elected members. Such jan adalats had been held by the board earlier and had received a positive response. We aim to reach out to the common man and get a first-hand account of the issues faced by them,” Sardana said.
Meanwhile, development work in the cantonment area are on in full swing, Sardana said. “The integrated sewerage management project, with an investment of Rs 16 crore, is progressing smoothly and will be completed soon,” he said.
