PCB to continue road works

The Pune Cantonment Board,which in the month of November began road works on some of the busier roads under it,will continue the repair and resurfacing of roads in the coming days.

The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB),which in the month of November began road works on some of the busier roads under it,will continue the repair and resurfacing of roads in the coming days.

Speaking about this,Asst. executive engineer,S.N.Gaikwad said,”The road works in the PCB area will continue. We had divided the road work in two parts,on some of the roads we completed the pothole filling process,and on the others we re-laid the entire road.” The pothole filling process was carried out on Anderson Road,Queens Garden road,Gurudwara Road,Kahun Road,Old Parade Road,and East Street. Speaking about the process he said,”all the potholes on these roads were first cleaned out and then they were filled with the hot mix. Tacking was then carried out and the patch was then rolled over.”

The contract for the road repair work is given to M/s Paveway Construction and the total estimation of the contracts is Rs. 2 crores. According to Gaikwad the money for the various repair works will be paid in stages to the contractors and as of now the money for the repair works that have been completed has been paid off. Road surface relaying work was carried out in Victoria road,Kahun road,Anderson road,Parade Ground road and New Modikhana road (including all lanes). “The roads are repaired on a three year basis. We will now be relaying the Kumbharbawdi road in the next three days,the Solapur bazaar and patch work on Synagogue Street in road next week,” Gaikwad said.
