The standing committee of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 6.94 crore for development work in the civic limits. The amount approved gains significance as the corporators and activists have been accusing the civic administration of going slow on development work and only focusing on bringing down illegal structures.
At the committee meeting,chairman Jagdish Shetty approved tarring of roads under the Bhosari flyover.
An amount of Rs 29 lakh was approved for road work in Chinchwad where the civic body has acquired road space by handing over transfer of development rights to owners. In Prabhag No 27,Rs 24 lakh was cleared for constructing stormwater drains and laying paving blocks. Funds of Rs 64 lakh were allotted for constructing a road near the Rose Garden in Nehrunagar.
In ward no 100,Rs 21 lakh was allotted for road work while Rs 47 lakh was sanctioned for tarring work of the road at Ramnagari in Bhosari. Similarly,Rs 45 lakh was sanctioned for concretisation of the road at Gawlinagar in Bhosari and Rs 40 lakh was cleared for paving block work in Chikhli area.
The committee also approved over Rs 34 lakh for constructing a retaining wall near a river in Pimple Saudagar.
For the road works in Prabhag No 88,Rs 47 lakh was cleared and Rs 77 lakh was sanctioned for maintenance and repair work of a hospital in A division ward office. In Prabhag No 88,the panel cleared Rs 38 lakh for developing DP Road. For the district-level school sports competition,the committee approved over Rs 8 lakh.
The committee recommended to the civic general body that the athletics track in Indrayani Nagar and Bhosari be given on lease. Civic officials said the issue would be discussed in civic general body meeting this month.
