Peace clubs to promote Gandhian values among students

A peace club was inaugurated at Navodaya Vidyalaya,Mauli,near Panchkula on Friday. Deputy District Education Officer Karan Singh Jaglan and coordinator of NGO Yuvsatta,Parmod Sharma,were the key speakers on the occasion.

Introducing the activities of the peace club,Santosh Sharma,principal of the school,said they planned to organise activities like a Peace Week,essay,slogan and poetry-writing contests,as part of their endeavour to promote Gandhian values among students. Plays highlighting the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi and educational excursions for the members of the peace club will also be organised.

Karan Singh Jaglan said they have already initiated the process of inculcation of Gandhian values among students by means of peace clubs in schools of Panchkula. In his address,Parmod Sharma said that peace clubs in educational institutions can go a long way in creating a harmonious environment in schools.
