After days of intense rainfall in the plains of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, Wednesday will see a let up, says the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the Pune-based weather watch station, western disturbance over J-K has weakened and is moving towards north eastern India. The last few days have also seen snowfall in the hilly areas of Uttaranchal, J-K and Himachal Pradesh,
“The period of intense rainfall will get over by Wednesday morning and there will be some light rainfall that too in patches in isolated places over the plains of north western India. The thunderstorms over north western India too is expected to continue till Wednesday evening though it won’t be that intense and will also occur in isolated places,” said IMD Weather Forecasting Director R R Lele. However, the western Himalayan region is likely to receive isolated heavy rain and snow during the next 24 hours. Beginning Thursday, the Indo-Gangetic plain will witness strong north-westerly winds and from Friday, the north western parts of India will witness a rise in maximum temperature and fall in minimum temperature by a few degrees. Currently, north western India is witnessing intense rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
