  • In the aftermath of the IOC fire that still rages on near Jaipur, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced that petroleum depots and transit stations would soon be shifted out of the city limits.

Gehlot also stated that the fire brigade would be supplied with better equipment to handle fires, where flames are higher than what conventional fire tender ladders can reach.

The Chief Minister said, “There must be a separate masterplan for cities and villages, where such incidents can be avoided. Villages should also be included as they will soon grow into small towns.”

Asserting the state would also conduct an inquiry into the incident, he added, “There must be no commercial activity or settlements near such volatile depots.” Rajasthan Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal maintained that the state was working on relocating such depots currently situated within city limits to prevent loss of life and damage to property.
