  • Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) has admitted a petition filed by Bua Das Sharma, a resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, regarding the insanitary conditions prevailing in the area. The commission has asked sought a report from the principal secretary, Local Bodies, regarding the condition of parks before July 6.

Sharma alleged that Ludhiana Improvement Trust had failed in maintaining the parks and filth can be seen scattered around in almost all the parks of this posh colony. Though an ample number of lights have been installed, there in nothing in the name of greenery, he rued.

A dumping ground has been made in a park near Bhai Daya Singh hospital in the area which spreads foul smell and attracts stray animals as well. The other parks too have been either encroached or are not being maintained, he said.
