PIL seeks helipads in south Mumbai

The PIL filed by activist Arvind Shastri stated that VIP movements in the city disrupted traffic since their helicopters landed in the suburbs and they travelled by road to south Mumbai with their convoy.

Hearing a PIL seeking helipads in south Mumbai, the Bombay High Court Tuesday issued notices to the Union ministries of defence, environment and forests, and civil aviation,as well as to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and sought their reply.

The PIL filed by activist Arvind Shastri stated that VIP movements in the city disrupted traffic since their helicopters landed in the suburbs and they travelled by road to south Mumbai with their convoy.

The PIL also stated that the MoD had objected to construction of helipads citing security concerns but argued that while it was impossible to construct an airport in south Mumbai, helipads could still be prepared.
