Come November and Domino's pizza delivery boys will turn campaigners for the polio-eradication campaign.
The decision was taken following a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Basab Bordoloi, vice-president, Domino's Pizza India Ltd and Deepak Kapur, chairman, India National Polio Plus committee of Rotary International, on September 10.
Under the MoU, Rotary will provide the materials (like pamphlets) while the infrastructure and manpower of Domino's will be used to drive home the importance of administering polio drops to children. Domino's Pizza India Limited will support Rotary's information, education and communication (IEC) programme.
"We often tell our employees that apart from routine work, we have to think of ways to give back to society. With a network of 275 stores across the country, we can help spread awareness on the polio immunisation programme," Bordoloi told The Indian Express.
He added, "Apart from our delivery boys distributing polio immunisation awareness material along with Pizzas, polio booths will be set up at our stores on the first day of the polio immunisation week in November."
A member of the India National Polio Plus committee, Ajay Saxena, added: "With this unique MoU, we aim to spread the importance of polio drops for children."
The other partners in the campaign include WHO, UNICEF and the Government of India.
