Biplab Malakar’s sister Sonali pleads with mediapersons visiting their house at Mayapally in Icchapur,North 24 Parganas,40 km from Kolkata. “Please let us know if you hear about my brother,” she says. Biplab (30) is one of the CRPF men injured in the Naxal attack. On April 4,he had called home to tell his mother that as he was going on a forest duty he will not take calls for the three next days. On the third day,April 6,the family got the news of the Maoist attack and tried to call him,but his phone was not reachable. Hours later,the family learnt that Biplab was severely injured. On Wednesday,they finally spoke to him.

“He told me that he has received two bullet injuries. But his colleague Ram Kumar said Biplab had received five bullet injuries,” sobbed Sonali. Their mother,Gayatri (55) insists on going to Raipur where he is being treated.

The Bagal family,residents of Dhabani village in Bankura,is devastated. The family is waiting for the body of Asish Bagal (28) to arrive at their home. His 18-year-old wife Kadam Devi hasn’t uttered a word since she heard the news of his death.
