Plutonium threat from N Korea

    North Korea said on Tuesday that it has completed reprocessing thousands of spent nuclear fuel rods to extract plutonium. This has been seen as an attempt to get the US to hold direct talks with the country.

    The official Korean Central News Agency said the country reprocessed 8,000 spent fuel rods, which reportedly yields plutonium for at least one atomic bomb.
