PM should ask police to withdraw FIR against me: Swamy

FIR was registered in view of his article spreading enmity between communities.

Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should intervene and ask the Delhi police to withdraw a case filed against him for spreading enmity between communities.

Calling the FIR “stupid” and “vapid”,he suggested that it was motivated by the fear of his “relentless investigations” into the 2G spectrum scam.

The Crime Branch had registered a case under Section 153A (spreading enmity between communities) of the Indian Penal Code for his newspaper article in July this year.

The Harvard-educated economic scholar had in an article in a newspaper suggested that Indian Hindus should collectively respond to terror acts.

He demanded that the Prime Minister “intervene and ask the Delhi Police” to withdraw the FIR.
