For the third consecutive year, the free pass scheme for students to travel in the city limits has started. THE forms for students from Classes V to X will be given out in the Pune Municipal Corporation area at Gogate Vidya Niketan,Sadashiv Peth, from June 22. The passes for buses run by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will be given only for students from state government recognised schools. The last date for submitting the form is July 31.

The documents to be submitted include two passport size photographs, photocopy of ration card or school I-card or a letter from the school principal. Schools will also need to show documentary evidence to prove they are government recognised schools. Deepak Pardeshi, spokesperson,PMPML,said,“The forms can be collected by school principals on June 22. We have invited the representatives of government recognised schools. If a school requires more forms,it can collect them from the PMPML depots after the meeting on June 22. The forms have to be submitted to our office, following which we will issue the passes to schools.” Vishnu Jadhav,PCMC education officer, said,in Pimpri-Chinchwad,forms are being distributed from June 15 to June 30. He said if any school is preventing its poor students from taking passes,it should be brought to our notice. “We will take up the issue with the schools.
