A week after they arrested him for allegedly planning attacks in the capital on Holi,Delhi Police chose the festive day to allow Syed Liyaqat Shah to speak to his family.

We received a call from Delhi Police today (Wednesday), his brother Syed Inayatullah said. They (Delhi Police) asked us to talk to him (Shah) and we talked to him for some time.

Inayatullah said Shah asked them to come to Delhi to meet him and they had decided to leave for New Delhi on Thursday or Friday.

He (Shah) told us he is waiting to meet us, he said.

We have decided to go to Delhi and meet him. We may leave for Delhi tomorrow.

The call comes a day after Amina, the first wife of Shah, met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Jammu seeking intervention for his release. Omar assured her Shah would be freed soon as he was returning home under a J-K government rehabilitation policy.
