Police ask Chand,Fiza to join probe

Superintendent of Police (City) Varinder Pal Singh,who has been assigned to personally probe the complaint filed by 37-year-old Fiza,has asked Fiza and her 43-year-old husband to appear before him at his office in Phase I at 10 am on Friday.

Varinder said both the parties have been asked to furnish supportive documents and witnesses to substantiate their respective statements,which will also be recorded on the same day.

While the former Assistant Advocate General of Haryana,Fiza,was served the notice at her flat in Sector 48-C in Mohali this evening,the notice to call former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chand was sent at his Sector-8 residence in Panchkula,said the SP (City).

“After recording the statements of both the parties and going through the supportive documents and examining their witnesses,if any,I will submit my report to the SSP for further necessary action,” said Varinder.

Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jatinder Singh Aulakh,Fiza had alleged that Chand’s conversion to Islam and second marriage with her was “fraud and cheating” committed to “use her physically”.

“Chand never intended to make our marriage last for long and he took it only as a camouflaging act to have the right to have sexual intercourse with me,to which he was not otherwise entitled,” said Fiza while asking for the registration of an FIR against Chand under charges of rape,cheating,hurting religious sentiments,defamation and criminal intimidation.

UNRELENTING FIZA
“I will not compromise for the sake of my dignity and respect,” asserted Fiza on Tuesday evening as she vowed to fight till the end notwithstanding the fact that she was fighting against a “very powerful political family”. “After lodging the police complaint,I have started receiving serious threats to my family’s and my life,” alleged Fiza. Taking a dig at Chand’s brother,Kuldeep Bishnoi,she suggested that he should rename his political outfit as Haryana “Janahit” Party instead of Haryana Janhit Party as she accused him of “playing with her religious sentiments”. Claiming that her case was “foolproof” and admissible as per legal provisions,Fiza threatened to move the court of law if she failed to get justice from the police. She,however,denied receiving any police summon as yet. Interestingly,Fiza once again asked Chand to come clear and speak to her,if he was not under any “influence”.

‘wait and watch till friday’
The spokesperson for Chand,Deepak Rai Walia,said on Tuesday that Chand has been apprised of the latest developments in the case,and assured that he will soon answer all the queries posed in the police complaint against him after consulting legal experts. Walia,however,evaded direct reply to whether Chand will join the police investigation or not. “Let’s see and wait till Friday,” said Walia over the phone.
