While 65-year-old retired armyman Colonel Surinder Kumar Garg claims to have given a written complaint to the Panchkula police, alleging manhandling by six youths, including his neighbour, two days ago, the police denies the same.
While the police have failed to take action in the case till date, Colonel Garg says he now fears for his life as the accused have threatened him with dire consequences.
“Some notorious people are staying in the house next to ours. A number of unknown men visit the house at night along with girls. They not only drink throughout the night but also create ruckus, continuously blow horns, shout and make noise. The entire colony is suffering because of their activities,” said Colonel Garg, a resident of Sector 25.
On the night of July 18, Colonel Garg decided to talk to the neighbours after some men, allegedly drunk, started shouting early in the morning.
“Within minutes, six youths, all in their early 20s, attacked me. While two of them held me by my hands, the other four started beating me up. They were drunk and had bear bottles with them. When I requested them to leave me, they threatened me with dire consequences if I complained again.”
He added: “The very next day I went to SP Amitabh Dhillon and gave a written complaint. All that the police did was to call up the owner of the house, Azad Singh Sharma, who said he didn’t know anything about the incident.”
