Police initiate effort to gather data about senior citizens

  • He said that he himself was never approached by the Sayajigunj police station. “If they feel that talking to the elderly is a burden then it’s as good as abandonment,” he said, adding that crimes against the elderly in the city have not declined even though the police are launching such novel schemes.

    On his part, a senior officer said that the data collection drive is still in the process. “There are certain police stations which are not working efficiently on this front. We are planning to monitor every single meeting that happens between senior citizens and the police stations so that the trust can be established,” he added.
