'Police reforms is something that has not received the attention it does deserve.'

Accepting that police reforms have "not received" the deserving attention from the government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Friday that the Centre would work on them in the near future.

"Police reforms is something that has not received the attention it does deserve. We have the report of the Administrative Reforms Commission and in months that lie ahead, we would tackle this aspect of the reforms as well," he said when asked about the need for carrying out judicial and police reforms.

The second ARC headed by present Law Minister Veerappa Moily was set up to suggest a framework to strengthen administrative machinery to maintain public order for social harmony and economic development.

The commission had submitted its report during the first tenure of the UPA government last year.
