  • Four people, all of them reportedly CPM supporters, lost their lives in stray cases of poll-related violence in the state on Wednesday. At Belpahari in West Midnapore district, two local CPM leaders — Durga Desahli and Santosh Mahato —- were attacked allegedly by Maoists while they were travelling in a bus. In Murshidabad one Gopal Mondal, a CPM supporter, was killed allegedly by Congress men. The Congress, however, blamed it on CPM’s internal feud. Another CPM worker was killed in Burdwan. At Barasat in North 24 Parganas, a private TV channel’s programme involving Trinamool Congress candidate Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and Forward Bloc candidate Sudin Chattopadhyay had to be abandoned as supporters of the two candidates clashed with each other.
