A Brace each from Pooja Yadav and Neha helped Coaching Centre, Sector 18 enter the finals after recording a facile 7-1 win over Spartan Club in a semi-final match of the Hockey Tournament for Girls organised by Rock Rovers Hockey Club at Sector 18 Hockey Stadium on Thursday.
Pooja and Neha were in blazing form as Coaching Centre took the lead through Pooja in the second minute of the match through a field goal. Coaching Centre-18 pressed hard and went up by two goals when Sarita found the net in the 11th minute of the match through a field goal. Shivani extended the lead when she netted the goal in the 14th minute. Barely two minutes had passed when Anjali scored another goal for the team.
The Spartan Club players looked totally clueless during the match and there was hardly any coordination between the players. However, a sparkling touch by Gurpreet helped Spartan Club score their first goal of the match in the 32nd minute through a field goal. However, their happiness did not last long and they had to suffer another onslaught from the CC-18 forwards. Pooja netted her second goal of the match in the 35th minute to put the team on top. Then Neha joined the goal-feast and scored two quick goals in the 35th and 38th minute, respectively, to score a thumping win. Coaching Centre availed five penalty corners in the match.
The winning team will now meet Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18 after the latter was awarded a walk over when Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, failed to turn up for the match.
