One of the most anticipated events of the Pune Racing Season, the SA Poonawalla Multi Million race, will be held on September 23 at the Royal Western India Turf Club. The winner will get a prize money of Rs 1 million along with a trophy.
The race named after Soli A Poonawalla is one of the most popular events on the Pune horse racing circuit. Poonawalla was one of the key players of the game since its infancy.
Last year, the race was won by 'Cardinal' owned by the Shirkes. 'Cardinal' was trained by former jockey Pesi Shroff. The Shirkes have twice owned the winning horse. The 2010 edition of the race was won by 'Eloise'.
