Two years ago, a farmer in Kaushambi, Angad Singh Kuswaha, had found black potatoes scattered on the ground in a Meerut market. Attracted by its colour, he sowed them in his fields. This year he produced three quintals of them, but could barely find any buyer. Frustrated at the loss, the farmer contacted AAIDU, which then sent it to RFRAC, Lucknow.

Rajwade says the black potato would soon flood the markets and win people over.
