  • Apparently fed up with abject poverty, three sisters in Bilaspur district have allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison, police said on Sunday.

The three siblings, residents of Dakhankampa village in the district, and daughters of one Sushil Satnami were dejected as their father could not find a suitable match for them.

Monika, 22, Mausmi, 20, and Tulsi, 18, on Friday night consumed poison and then informed their parents, police said.

They were rushed to the hospital but declared brought dead. The sisters were three of Sushil’s five children. Police said a case has been registered and further investigations are on.
