PPP plans to file PIL against cops

Manpreet told reporters he had moved the Punjab State Human Rights Commission seeking inquiry into these false cases registered and to seek directions that no further false cases will be registered.

“Senior police officers are harassing the workers and supporters of my party. The DGP has himself declared that he is fighting the forthcoming elections on Akali Dal ticket. He should not hold this post if he plans to contest elections. The intelligence is not allowing party supporters to hold rallies in the state,as they tell the owners of marriage hall and other places where we plan to held rallies not to give the place on rent to us. While the vigilance bureau is registering false cases against my people,both my officers on special duty (OSDs) have been booked,also S S Manta close aide of my father Gurdas Badal was booked. In the last eight and half months I have faced a lot of heat from the government,” he said.

“These officers should go themselves otherwise once the election code of conduct comes in force then the Election Commission of India will transfer them. They have become district jathedars of the Akali Dal. They are working as servants of their political masters,’’ he alleged.

He said Akali Dal is angry that many people are joining PPP. “Till date,we have got 18 lakh filled forms as we distributed 38 lakh forms and the rest we expect to get in a week’s time.”

There is collusion between SAD and Congress and now both are afraid that the PPP will dislodge them,he said.
