  • Maoist chief Prachanda on Monday said China has advised his party to continue in the political mainstream and not wage another war against the government.

“Instead, it wants us to work on developmental works and nation building,” Prachanda said after his return from China. Prachanda, who was accompanied to China by two senior party colleagues and son Prakash Dahal, met Chinese President Hu Jintao and other senior officials during his weeklong trip.

The former PM said now that he is back to Nepal, he would try his best to solve the current political stalemate in the country with “positive thinking”.

The CPN-M, the biggest party in the legislature, has been blocking all House proceedings for over the past 70 days. It has been demanding President Rambaran Yadav either apologise for reinstating Gen. Rukmangat Katuwal, the army chief whom Prachanda as PM sacked in May, or let the issue be debated in the House.
