Nepal Maoists chief Prachanda has sought China's "positive cooperation" in taking the fragile Peace Process to a logical conclusion and the process of writing the new constitution.

In his meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Sondong province in China, Prachanda asked China to play a positive play in the country's peace process.

"During the meeting, Prachanda China wants to see the peace process conclude and constitution be drafted on time and Nepal to move on the path of economic prosperity in a speedy manner," Janadisha, the Maoist mouthpiece, quoted senior leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara as saying.

"China was very much concerned about Nepal's current situation and offered help for moving ahead the peace process as also providing assistance to Nepal's development and construction works," Mahara was quoted as saying.

The two leaders also discussed ways to expand relations between the two countries and the two parties, he said.

The report said the two leaders also agreed to take the relationship between the two parties to new heights.

Prachanda had earlier met senior Jia Quiglin, the Standing Committee member of the Chinese Communist Party, and held talks regarding strengthening relations between the two parties.

Prachanda, during the visit, also visit Mao's birth place at Sansang, his long-cherished dream.
