Sources said the Amboli police are likely to hand over the case to the Mumbai Police Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell and Cyber Crime Cell to locate the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the alleged e-mail sent to Jha.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) Pratap Dighavkar said,“An FIR was registered under Section 384 (punishment for extortion) and 120 B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) against the two filmmakers.”

“We have recorded Jha’s statement. He said he had taken the money but when the film did not take off,he returned it. But since it’s a financial dispute,we are conducting inquiries. We have also sent the e-mail for scrutiny,” added Dighavkar.
