With little time in his hand to focus solely on his constituency, the Congress’ man of all seasons, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, has hired a top advertising professional to unleash a high-voltage audio-visual campaign in Jangipur in Murshidabad, from where the party veteran is contesting the Lok Sabha polls.
Srenik Sett, a top advertising brain with 25 years of experience behind him, has already launched the campaign at the grassroots level that include a road show with a tableau, screenings of a documentary detailing Mukherjee’s accomplishments and his work in the past five years.
“I am proud to be associated with a visionary like Pranabda. We have been taking care of his campaign for some time now. I have planned the entire campaign in a way so as to reach the grassroots-level people directly using modern audio-visual techniques,” Sett, who runs Souvagya Advertising, said.
Sett has coined slogans like “Kajer manush. Kacher manush. Unnayaner pranpurush (A man of deeds, a man of the masses, an icon for development)” to woo the voters in the Jangipur constituency that comprises eight blocks.
“We have been organising sports programmes on behalf of Pranabda since 2006. And now, we are handling his campaign. We feel compared to the mammoth work done by Pranabda, there is little that has been highlighted,” said Sett, who has floated an NGO called All Sports Foundation.
The ad man said his organisation is doing it out of sheer love and respect for the veteran Congress leader. “I am doing it because I am inspired by Pranabda’s work and stature.”
As part of the campaign, a well-decorated tableau is being taken around Jangipura, village after village, backed by documentary screenings to showcase the work done by Mukherjee, including his success in the NREGS and his contribution in the field of sports for youths in his constituency.
“The documentary includes footages of successful football tournaments, chess and carom competitions held in his constituency. Pranabda helped open a football coaching camp in Jangipur, held numerous competitions where stalwarts from the state were present. He has organised chess championships under grand master Dibyendu Baruah,” Sett said.
The documentary, which is shown to the public through a mini projection, also highlights his contribution to national politics, besides his easy availability in his constituency despite a hectic schedule.
“Pranabda is always there is his constituency, despite being a very busy figure in national politics. We are highlighting this fact,” Sett added.
Apart from the road show, the campaign also includes distribution of pamphlets, posters and literature highlighting his successful political career, as well as his work and contribution in his constituency.
