Prashanti Cancer Care Centre launches Pink Ribbon Club

Prashanti Cancer Care Centre, a non-profit organisation, announced its first Pink Ribbon Club at a function at Central Park Hotel, Camp on Wednesday. As many as 50 people including cancer patients and their friends attended the event.

"Prashanti Cancer Centre has been helping cancer patients forget their disease. We keep them away from thinking that they are cancer survivors. This makes the treatment much easier," said Dr Koppiker, the founder and managing trustee of the organisation.

Dr Koppiker, along with his team, has been initiating several programmes to help the patients deal with the disease. "We conduct several programmes including Warli painting, salad making, trips to Mahabaleshwar and music sessions for patients," said Dr Upendra Dhar, a surgical oncologist and one of the physicians in the team.

As part of the Pink Ribbon Club, the team of Prashanti Cancer Care Centre will extend a helping hand through holding meetings on the issue once a month.

Last year, Dr Koppiker and his team treated 3,000 patients suffering from cancer with concessions besides treating 150 patients for free. As part of the event, a drum therapy session was organised by Zubin Balsara, one of the founders of World Centre for Creative Learning Foundation, a non-profit organisation, working on art-based therapies.
