  • A prayer meet for K V S Rama Sarma, former editor of the National Herald and Congress’ mouthpiece Sandesh, was held on Monday evening at his residence in Kaka Nagar.

Sarma, who started his career with The Patriot in 1966 and joined the National Herald in 1980, had passed away on December 18 after battling cancer.

Almost the entire Cabinet of the Delhi government, including Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, was present at the meet.

In a message, Congress leader Salman Khurshid praised Sarma’s acumen and dedication, while Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee’s (DPCC) vice president Dheerendra Tyagi said he was a ‘visionary’.

On the occasion, praising his discipline and knowledge, veteran journalists said he was a ‘brilliant international relations analyst’.

Pradeep Mathur, course director of English Journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), who knew Sarma for over 30 years, said, “He was a pure-hearted man who always spoke his mind. I consulted him on international relations and often invited him for lectures at the IIMC.”
