Addressing the congregation, Minister for Tourism and Jails, Hira Singh Gabria said, “The sacrifices of the Sikhs for the nation are well known but then it is sad that the government has done nothing for the victims of this very community who lost their near and dear ones and even livelihood during the 1984 Sikh riots.” The meeting was attended by various senior Sikh leaders of the city.

Garbia added, “The 1984 riots were not one community fighting against the other but a progrom designed and executed by the then Congress government. The Congress set up commissions in name of delivering justice to the riot victims but then all these commissions worked towards giving clean chit to all those Congress leaders who led the mobs during the riots instead of giving justice to the victims. While 25 years have passed but we will fight till we get justice, “ said Gabria.
