Owners of Kings XI Punjab,Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia along with its vice president Arvinder Singh, were issued notices for March 22 for using the names of freedom fighters including Chandrashekhar Azad,Bhagat Singh,Sukhdev and Rajguru in a print advertisement by a district court here today.

The court of Civil Judge,Senior Division,Anshul Berry has issued notices to the three who have been accused of violations under The Emblem and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act,1950.

Abhey Singh Sandhu, nephew of Bhagat Singh,Arvind Thakur, chairperson of the Global Human Rights Council and Vijay Singh Bharadwaj of the VHP have alleged the team’s ad that appeared on March 13 had used the names of the freedom fighters as a medium of what they called was ‘cheap publicity’ to attract more tickets.

The complainants have asked for permanent injunction for restraining the team from publishing the names of the freedom fighters to gain ‘cheap’ publicity.

Abhey Singh termed the ad as frivolous which left them hurt deeply when they saw the names of the freedom fighters used that way.
