  • “At the Nagpur zoo, this bird has been stuffed and preserved and is of great educational value to children,” he said.

Majumder added that the clause would also help revive the fast-dying art of taxidermy.

Among zoos that had long been pushing for this clause are the Kerala and Assam zoos, CZA’s Gupta said.

Elcey George, director of the Thiruvanandapuram zoo, Kerala, said, “We have now stuffed two rhinoceroses and several small animals and displayed them in our museum.”

Zoos are Prisons for AnimalsBy: Dennis Carlson | 06-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward I"d like to know -- specifically - how a dead stuffed body is of "great educational value" to children or anyone. What, exactly, does a child take away from seeing a dead body of an animal? Surely not to "save" them. This is just one more awful example of humans using animals for their own perverse reasons. Zoos should become extinct. No child leaves a zoo with a newfound mission to save animals in the wild. Zoos are a cheap way to pass some time and keep kids occupied for a little while. Animals do not belong in cages for our entertainment. It's morally indefensible.
ZooBy: Pradeep Bhandari | 10-May-2009 Reply | Forward One gets first hand experience to observe endangered wild life species as closely as possible,to know its shape, size, structure, movement ,habits, habitat requirement, biological needs ,anatomy etc.which further will help in carrying out successful conservation breeding programmesof endangered species and release them into nature where they have become endangered. Is'nt it a great effort to save wild life and humanity at large. How can we survive with out protecting our ecology
