Primary school teacher 'commits' suicide

A primary school teacher, Poonam, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her residence in Sundernagar, Ambala. The deceased's brother, Pankaj Singh, alleged that Poonam's husband, Vikas, mother-in-law and sister-in-law used to harass her for dowry. "After an altercation with Vikas, last night, Poonam went to the upper storey of the house and hanged herself," Singh said. The police have registered a case of dowry death against Vikas, mother-in-law Payari Devi and sister-in-law Babita.
