  • Come november and primary school teachers in the city will turn students to learn spoken English.

For the first time, 1,374 teachers in the rural and urban areas of the city will be trained by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) to improve their spoken English skills.

“During our inspections, we have seen that most of the primary teachers of government schools are not confident while speaking English. To improve their command over spoken English, it is necessary for the teachers to have good language skills as well. The move will in turn ensure easy learning of the language by the primary students,” said Lalita Pradeep, Principal DIET, Lucknow.

The training, which will be given to teachers of Classes I to V, will focus on grammatical and pronunciation aspects of English. A teacher each from the 1,374 schools will be selected for the one-and-half-month long training.
