  • The principals and counsellors of various UT government schools participated in a workshop on stress management held at Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh, on Friday.

Held under the aegis of DPI Schools, Chandigarh, the programme was sponsored by Axis Bank in association with the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association, Modern Housing Complex, Manimajra.

Inaugurated by District Education Officer (Schools) Chanchal Singh, Col Gursewak Singh (Retd), CEO of Guru’s Consultancy Services, was the resource person for the workshop.

Col Singh said: “Stress is arguably one of the major concerns of modern society. In educational institutions, students and faculty are particularly vulnerable to the misery of stress, which is likely to adversely affect their performance and well-being.”

“The prime cause of stress among schoolchildren is unreasonably high expectations in examination results in this competitive environment. Unless our education system is restructured, this malaise may not go,” added the colonel.
