The management of CFC Public School has suspended the principal, Mary Koruth for two weeks for giving harsh punishment to about 35 girl students who had come to the school with Mehandi on the occasion of Karwa Chauth. The suspension orders were issued on October 13.
It needs to be mentioned that the principal had banned the entry of the girl students who had applied Mehandi on their hands on Karwa Chauth for two days. The girls in panic had even tried to remove it with even iron brushes etc and seriously injuring their hands in the process.
Following this, the parents of a few girls under the banner of Hindu Sikh Jagriti Sewa had gone to the police and the SHO, Sarabha Nagar, Beant Juneja had also said that the punishment was very harsh. Although the principal has also given a written apology but still the school management has suspended her for two weeks.
Parveen Dang, President of Hindu Sikh Jagriti Sewa, while appreciating the action taken by the school management against the principal said that her action had hurt the feelings of Hindus.
In the suspension letter given to the Principal, the director CFC School, had mentioned that a team of four members has been constituted from the management of CFC school and BRS Nagar to inquire into the matter and the report will be submitted within these two weeks.
The principal, meanwhile, has been asked to keep her communication lines open with the vice-principal and the administrative staff during the suspension period for smooth functioning of the school.
