The management of West Bengal-based Priya Biscuit company Friday claimed to have received extortion calls with refusal to pay up apparently leading to bomb attacks at two of its factory premises.
G P Agarwal,managing director of the company,said some miscreants hurled bombs at the factory units at Dankuni and Rishra in Hooghly district late Thursday.
We have been receiving extortion calls from unidentified persons demanding Rs 2 crore for the last four months. I have received at least 50 calls from different numbers. I refused to pay up following which miscreants have started hurling bombs at the factory units in Hooghly district, Agarwal claimed.
He alleged that the company has lodged FIR at police stations in Dankuni and Srirampore in Hooghly district,but no action has been taken.
We had also submitted the telephone numbers from which I had received the calls. But they (police) are yet to identify those making the extortion calls, he added.
Priya Foods brands include Butter Bite,Nice-T,Milkose,Marie and Cream Cracker.
Meanwhile,state industry and commerce minister Partha Chatterjee advised Agarwal to get in touch with the administration,instead of going to the media.
