The state government on Wednesday submitted a departmental inquiry report on Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Suryavanshi in the Bombay High Court . The inquiry was initiated against Suryavanshi for allegedly making a threat call to a metropolitan magistrate. He was arrested in connection with the alleged fake encounter of Ramnarayan Gupta,a suspected aide of gangster Chhota Rajan.
The Division bench of Justice D B Bhosale and Justice A R Joshi, while reading out parts of the report which was in Marathi, observed that the charge regarding the telephone call to the magistrate has not been proved. The court observed that Suryavanshi was entitled to a copy since this was the final report but did not pass any orders.
The court was hearing a contempt petition filed by Ramprasad Gupta, advocate brother of Ramnarayan Gupta. In 2008,Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate R A Shaikh submitted a confidential report to the High Court stating that there was substance in Ramprasads allegations and a case should be registered against the policemen involved. It was then that Suryavanshi allegedly began threatening Shaikh and
her family.
