Process for regularising 51 Delhi colonies almost complete

Delhi government has almost completed the process for regularisation of 51 unauthorised colonies in the city.

Delhi government has almost completed the process for regularisation of 51 unauthorised colonies in the city and has sent the list to the MCD for approval of their boundaries.

Officials in Delhi government’s Urban Development department said approval of the boundaries of the colonies by the MCD’s Standing Committee will pave the way for regularising the colonies.

Ahead of Assembly elections in 2008,Delhi government had distributed provisional regularisation certificates to 1,639 unauthorised colonies and last year the process for their regularisation was started.

Regularisation of the colonies will enable the residents of unauthorised colonies to get all such benefits and basic amenities available in any other developed colonies.

Officials said 733 colonies have got no objection certificates from all the concerned agencies. However,boundaries could be finalised for only 51 colonies as on date.

The city government had asked MCD to submit final layout plans for these 733 colonies so that they can be regularised.

The government had already commenced developmental works in most of the 1,639 colonies.

The UD department had forwarded applications of 1639 unauthorized colonies to MCD,DDA,ASI,Forest Department and Revenue department for scrutiny and verification.

Currently,various agencies are working on basic nfrastructure like roads and drains,water supply,sewerage,sanitation,electrification and street lighting in thses colonies.
