  • The government must investigate the exact underlying reasons for this accident — whether it was simply a faulty link in the construction chain, a case of sloppy work in a rush to make project deadlines, or something else altogether. At this point, as the Metro corporation works at breakneck speed to wind up construction and implement all pending sections, Sreedharan’s stewardship may be especially critical.

delhi metro bridge collapseBy: peeralchandio | 14-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward is there no any yardstick/mechanism to avoid such catastrophies, as we have also seen such type of collapse in Northern Bypass intersection in karachi, leaving same number of people dead. One is inclined to think that why precautionary measures are not undertaken before execution of such mega projects, where hundred lives are at stake during its construction work.
Delhi Metro bridge collapseBy: KNVS Subrahmanyam | 13-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward Mr.Sreedhan cannot be faulted with Delhi metro's bridge collapse in New Delhi given his credentials in successful execution of projects. In respect of PSU infra projects DMRC is a success story and can be emulated by any other orgnaisation. For this mishape, the contractors are solely responsible and stringent measures need to be taken after thorough inquiry. The tragedy is a lesson and authorities need to ensure that the same does not recur again and again.Thanking you,KNVS SubrahmanyamHyderabadD
dmrc bridge collapseBy: sunder | 13-Jul-2009 Reply | Forward What the DMRC bridge collapse highlights is the lack of capable Indian contractors to undertake such projects. The government needs to look at its primitive mindset of awarding contracts to the lowest bidder and invite experienced reputable international companies to undertake such projects
