On Saturday, forty eight hours after Rajesh Kumar (42), a Dera Bassi-based property dealer, was beaten to death by unknown persons, the police has still not been able to solve the case.
SP, Headquarters, DS Mann, who is investigating the case, told Newsline that the police is investigating the case from several angles and hopes to resolve the case soon.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and CIA Incharge, Gurcharan Singh, were at Dera Bassi police station along with their teams on Saturday.
Police conducted raids at several places to nab the seven accused who were booked on Friday. However, the role of some other persons is also suspected. Police has also seized a Ritz car of BJP mandal president Rakesh Mehta, who has been named as one of the accused in the case. Some of his relatives were also rounded up.
Rajesh Kumar was fighting a number of cases against some political persons in the Dera Bassi court. His car had been damaged by some unknown persons about a month ago and police is suspecting that the same people are responsible for his murder.
Minister of State for External Affairs, Preneet Kaur, visited Dera Bassi on Saturday to meet the family of the deceased. She assured the members of an early resolution of the case and said that she will demand that the case be handled by the CBI.
Rajesh Kumar, a Dera Bassi-based property dealer, was beaten to death on Thursday night. Police had booked seven persons under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code, on the complaint of the brother of Rajesh.
