  • The District Electoral Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, has served notices to the Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Technical University for the two reports of alleged violation of the model code of conduct by him published in the media.

Sources said the V-C has already filed his reply. However, DEO R K Chaudhary, said he was yet to receive the reply.

It must be recalled that the District Congress Committee (DCC), Jalandhar, had filed two complaints to the Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC) against the PTU V-C, Dr Rajneesh Arora, for violating the code by issuing a recruitment adverti-sement and by announcing scholarships for rural students.

The V-C claimed that in the scholarship report, he had been misquoted by the newspaper and as for the advertisement, he said it was issued by the PTU distance education associate in Ludhiana and would be considered void.
