To curb the menace of ragging, Panjab University officials are not just coming up with anti-ragging squads and complaint boxes, but it has also been decided to upload the names of the students involved in ragging cases with their photographs on its website.
University authorities state that this is being done with an aim to make other students aware of the action which might be initiated against them if they indulge in ragging. This year, PU also went ahead and published details of those involved in ragging in its prospectus.
Speaking to Newsline, Dean Students Welfare Prof Naval Kishore said: “We have initiated several steps in the new academic session to keep a check on ragging on campus. The most important change this year is that we have involved students in curbing the menace. We hope that rule makers will not be the rule breakers.” The rules and regulations, along with the punishment for ragging, will be put up in all departments, the officials added.
