Punajb Universitys (PU) Central placement drive,Avsar,will ensure the placement of 504 of the total 800 students from various departments – shortlisted by the organising committee from among those who had registered.

S K Chadha,Central Placement Coordinator of PU,informed that out of a total of about 1,100 students who had registered for the placement drive,those 800 were chosen who have not been able to secure jobs in their department-specific placement drives.

The drive,which was managed completely online this year,has gathered an improved response from the students.

Speaking to Newsline,Smriti,a student of Tourism Management,said,The entire process of applying for the placements and updating the resume was very professional. The placement cell has been communicating the details of the companies as well as the requirements via e-mail.

Another student from University Institute of Applied Management Studies (UIAMS),Bhumika said,Each of us are being made to appear in at least five interviews with different companies. I hope to clear at least one of them.

The Cluster I,comprising professional courses,participated in the drive. Cluster II and III,comprising Humanities and sciences,will take part in the drive on Wednesday.

The minimum package being offered at Avsar equals Rs 2.4 lakh per annum. The highest package will be as high as Rs 7 lakh per annum.

This year,nearly 845 students from 14 departments have already been placed with a minimum annual pay package of Rs 2 lakh. Some of these departments include University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET),University Institute for Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET),University Business School (UBS),Department of Economics,Chemistry and Law.
