Pune Cantt schools directed to form panels

As per the recommendations of Southern Command,the Pune Cantonment Board-aided schools in all the eight wards have been directed to form school management committees as part of the Right to Education Act,2009.

As per the recommendations of Southern Command,the Pune Cantonment Board-aided schools in all the eight wards have been directed to form school management committees as part of the Right to Education (RTE) Act,2009. The committees should have parents,the principal of the school,local elected members and an educationist.

Santosh Kavade,chairman,Education Committee,PCB,said the decision to adopt the regulations and to form school management committees was taken during a recent board education committee meeting. “Cantonment-aided schools in all the eight wards have been directed to form such committees,” he said.

Earlier,PCB CEO Rachel Koshy had made it clear that with the union government implementing the RTE Act,the board would provide children with free textbooks and other benefits in accordance with the central government regulations. The committees will ensure proper implementation of this and other government schemes.

The members of the committee also will update the Education Committee about implementation of various government schemes on a regular basis. Recently,the Board had decided to increase the monthly salary of Montessori teachers from Rs 1,700 to Rs 4,000.
