Employees in Pune are the least satisfied according a survey in several cities in the country that took into account parameters like inter-personal relationship, conflict resolution, amount of work, salary and flexibility at the workplace.
Team Lease, a leading staffing company, surveyed employees from various sectors across several cities and found the happiness quotient the lowest in Pune as far as workload is concerned.
According to the findings of its latest survey ‘Stress at Workplace’, the 7th in a series of Team Lease studies to understand India’s new ‘World of Work’, 74 per cent of the employees surveyed in Pune believe they are over-worked.
The respondents included people in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The respondents’ age ranged from 30 t o 45 years. The were drawn from a across industries and their profiles ranged from sales to marketing, business development to operations, finance to administration and HR to IT.
The study reveals that stress had become a normal part of life that the majority (61 per cent) of the respondents across the cities found the workplace unhealthy. This went up to 65 per cent for employees from sales, marketing and operations. The survey says exposure to constant stress in many functions might well be the cause of such an altered belief.
Recognising their own faults at work and taking corrective action were the most preferred option to cope with stress. Taking a break from work or looking for another job were considered the least preferred solutions, said the study.
