Pune: Everest team member dies of stroke

A 33-year-old mountaineer from Bhosari in Pune,who was part of a six-member expedition to Mount Everest,died in a hospital in Pune on Saturday morning.

A 33-year-old mountaineer from Bhosari in Pune,who was part of a six-member expedition to Mount Everest,died in a hospital in Pune on Saturday morning. Ramesh Gulve,who felt dizzy and collapsed after returning to the base camp following a climb of 1,000 feet on April 20. He had been airlifted to Pune after initial treatment in Kathmandu. Doctors said the cause of death was cerebro-vascular accident or stroke. An employee of the Pune Municipal Corporation attached to Katraj Snake Park,he and some friends had started a mountaineering club,Sagarmatha Giryarohan Sanstha (named after one of the names of Everest) and they were on an expedition to the Everest. “They had been planning it for the past one-and-a-half years,” said club secretary Sunil Patil.
