The Pune Rural police on Sunday morning raided a party held at a restaurant on the outskirts of the city, and arrested about 300 students and professionals, including 114 women, and four organisers.

Around 1 am on Sunday, the police said, they raided a party at Maya Lounge Restaurant at Wagholi, where very loud music was being played and liquor was being served without proper permit. The police said the restaurant is owned by an officer with the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad and his wife.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ravindrasinh Pardeshi said,We have seized liquor worth Rs 9.8 lakh illegally stored in the bar. As per primary information, the restaurant is owned by police officer Rajnish Nirmal and his wife. An action will be initiated against the owner.

The arrested men and women aged between 20 and 30 were later released on bail after medical tests.

Pardeshi added,The organisers had one-day permit from the excise department for serving liquor between 7 pm and 11 pm. How can they run a bar with one- day permit and have big advertisements put up in the premises?

The organisers will be produced before the court on Monday,he said.
